It was a breezy Saturday evening and I was all set to go to a nearby mall for shopping. It's a kind of usual routine work for me .Since in this fast paced, cut throat competitive world, people generally perceived as well settled and 'happy',try to buy happiness through shopping complexes and branded products.
No sooner did I get off the auto ,than I saw a little cute girl,in ragged dirty clothes, carrying a small little baby in her arms, and rushing towards me.She must not be more than five or six ,but it seemed the cruelty of life had taken all her innocence away and taught her all the tricks of this callous world.I was taken aback and could regain consciousness, only when she came close to me and pulled my shirt in a rather weird way. Before I could react, she asked me in wretched voice "Brother give me five rupees. We have not eaten anything since morning" ,pointing towards that little ,untidy but cute kid in her arm.Her 'brother' word suddenly pinched my heart. The kid had a very unconventional smile on his lips that was trying to shadow his hunger ,but his dry eyes and starving body was saying it all.The girl was also very small, but having been put in a position of guardianship, she looked much more mature and strong, mentally more than physically. And the most strange thing is that even at this tender age she was ready to take that responsibility.
I pulled out randomly a ten rupee note from my wallet and extended towards her.She looked puzzled as if I would have done something unworldly.I could not then understand the reason of their bewilderment, but when later I saw quite rich people scolding and abusing them in return of their request for five rupees,I understood it all.For them it was not just a 'ten rupee note'. Girl bought a bread, sat on the footpath, and fed her brother first only to eat the remaining part herself later. And the more intriguing thing is that they looked very happy and satisfied after eating that small piece of bread.I got an eternal satisfaction of having done something good.Though that was just a ten rupee note, but that smile on their lips was worth millions.
At the same time I saw a family(husband, wife and a kid) getting off from Audi. They went directly inside MacDonald. But the kid, roughly of the same age of the girl I met just a little while ago, din't seem to be happy.May be he was bored of eating the same pizza and burger every time.He wanted to go somewhere else.
I saw people fighting over the brand of their watches and mobile.I saw a young man kicking himself among his friends because he could not buy that new bike in the market.
I was witnessing the most cruel truth of humanity and the gravest of disparity at the same time.Unable to think anything I sat on the stairs outside and looked up in the sky rather helplessly,to search for the "Almighty" but couldn't find Him.The agnostic inside me was winning this time and I looked up again to ask "Is he really somewhere up there"?
Having born and brought up in a typical orthodox society, the idea of The God was automatically instilled in me.Hence I always had this belief that there is nothing beyond God and God is the reason for everything. So can the poverty and suffering of that small girl be without god's will?
They argue in "Holy Gita" that 'Karma' is the sole reason of happiness and suffering of a person. Then what about those who have not even been given this chance to do 'Karma'?What is the fault of those millions who are born in poverty and die fighting for their survival? What justification could God and his followers give for the simmering death of millions of children who are abused and forced into child trafficking ,sex racket, and begging industry? What could
be the mistake of a baby girl, who is killed in her mother's womb only?
And on The contrary what 'Karma' has that small kid in Audi done, worth getting everything that he is?If we are all His children then why is he biased against His own children? And If He is the reason for everything that happens to us then ain't he the main 'culprit'?And If everything is random ,then why do we pray Him?
Is it only because ,it gives us a sense of belonging and a hope that someone is looking after us and He will perfect everything? Is the existence of God just a false hope of myriad dying people who need something to linger upon for surviving?
Every Holy book of all religions, that is considered as God's own words, teaches to be honest and true. But everyday we come across the news of honest people either being killed or dying of poverty, and corrupt criminals who have committed the worst sins ,enjoying all kinds of luxury. If God is there, can't he see all this?and if he is not strong enough then why do we consider him "The Almighty".
Places that are considered abode of God,and people who are considered His Messengers, are selling him for every single penny and he is quiet. There is a price tag on his 'darshan'. Rich people can get to have a private meeting with him by spending lakhs, but he is not available for poor who can't pay for him.And he seems to be enjoying all this luxury inside that golden house.Sometimes I feel that he has become a puppet in the hands of his agents. But if he can't save himself ,how can we expect him to save us from our miseries?Ain't we relying on the wrong pillars?
But wait, He does start looking powerful time and again. At the time of riots He looks powerful. They kill, loot, rape, incinerate people in the name of God ,in the name of religion and sometimes in the name of violation of religion. And our God does nothing to stop them.May be because it's his own will. The God who can not even protect his own name ,I don't think can protect anybody or anything.
If the tears and blood of millions can't wake him up then I think we are worshiping stones only. The God in them has left long ago.And if at all , he is somewhere up there ,I beg him to protect me from being an atheist.I too want to believe that the God my mother prays everyday is not just a stone. But for that he will have to show his presence. He can't just turn his face away from our adversities. He simply can't reside inside a Golden house and let us die of hunger, poverty and anarchism. If he is there ,he has to listen to us !!!!!
Ya I truly accede and assent to your words and also salute them because I feel this is what comes directly from your heart ..buddy!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's survival for fittest world....People, go to any extent not only for surviving, but also for their selfish ("NERDY") reasons . This also includes selling the GOD's name..
bhai KALYUG hai....
But we should not forget that there are people in the same world also who care for despaired...like the one's doing charity..not for some fame or their personal benefits..but for the sake of humanity and in the name of GOD...honestly...these people are the real messengers of GOD....
bro i disagree with u to doubt the existence of the almighty really i don't hv an iota of it. In this world there are people whose pockets are deep enough to get their pampered wards overwhelmed by the luxuries at the same time they find themselves pocketless to feed those who are deprived of basic necessities of life with one time bread, on the other hand there are people like you also who are always ready to feed such mouth independent of the depth of their pocket. Today this world is getting flooded by dummies of humanity who are working day n night to buy materialistic happiness on the other hand there are people like you also who find eternal satisfaction and happiness in making the teary faces smile though for a moment only. Today our society hv forgotten the basic lesson that materialistic happiness are ephemeral in nature while lessening someone's pain can only bring us eternal happiness. we believers think that we human beings perform only those actions what the god wants but the fact is god knows what we do. With my very limited knowledge i consider life to be parallel to movies in both the cases the director wants to attain the pre-decided climax by assigning different roles to different actors the only difference is in movies director uses the option of re-take to make the actors perform their roles responsibly while in real life new responsible actors are added with stronger role to counter balance the weakers one.we all know that with great power or position comes greater responsibility and greater expectations. so the almighty is not biased in making someone wretched and someone aristocratic as the existence of former only makes the existence of latter relevant.By the way your actions are in disagreement with your apprehensions of turning into an atheist, what i think is just bowing day n night and lightening candles and chanting hymns only doesn't brings you closer to the almighty it is similar to an actor who is praising the director day n night but not performing his role responsibly thus distancing him from the director and indeed land him nowhere while inverse action can still bring him closer. The world is becoming a nasty place not only because of evil doers bt also because of good people lacking courage to do good to society. Many people say courage is to be fearless but what i think is courage is not about being fearless but doing right thing despite of being scared. This world has witnessed "satan" like "Hitler" as well as "half naked faqueer" like "Gandhi".If today the evildoers are not ready to give up their evils than why good people of the society should loose courage in propagating their good deeds. And quoting the cliched line "moko kahan dhoonde re bande, mai to tere paas me, na mai mandir na mai masjid, na kaaba kailash me......"answers your search for god in the infinite sky......
